Growing Blue

Veolia Water, an international municipal water services provider, came to Edelman Digital with an enormous amount of data concerning the water crisis our planet will soon be facing, and basically asked 'How can we turn this into something cool?'

In my role as the design lead, I was involved from the initial brainstorms about how this very rough data could be organized and turned into an interesting experience and then produced a design that intended to turn very data-heavy content into an approachable, aesthetically pleasing site, with subtle nods (like the use of a graph paper texture) to the sites mathematical roots. The bulk of the data was turned into an interactive map tool, where users can find out more about the water situation around the world. Case studies and proposed future scenarios help support the message that we need to make changes now to avoid a water crisis in the near future.
